Definition of slit glass

slit glass
1.  A piece of glass in the laser unit of a digital copier, fax or printer, that the image passes through just before it strikes the drum.
More Information:
Located next to the platen glass. In the case of document feed copying, the document will often be quickly passed over the slit glass, with the optics stationary. The platen glass is not utilized in this case.
