Definition of Selenium

Selenium

1.  A type of photoconductor drum material. There are various compositions, but many use this term for all selenium compositions. Federal regulations require that selenium photoconductors be returned to appropriate disposal sites. This includes disposing of a machine with a selenium drum in it. There have been no new designs that include selenium drums since 1997. It is illegal to dispose of selenium drums locally.
