parallel interface

1.  Interface standard for parallel data transmission by cable (originally designed for use with Centronics printers). The transmission of several bits at the same time, over different wires. Because of the early popularity of the Centronics printers, the interface signals for these printers have become a de-facto standard for parallel interfaces between printers and small computers.
