Definition of filament

filament
1.  A medium / material used in 3D printing. Filaments can be composed of several polymers and are fabricated from virgin resins. Two common polymers used in 3D printing filaments include acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polylactic acid (PLA).
