Definition of facsimile machine

facsimile machine
1.  A device which takes an optical image, such as from a piece of paper and transmits it, in the form of electrical signals, through phone lines to a receiving machine (also a fax machine) which converts the electrical signals back into an optical image which is printed on another piece of paper.
