Definition of bitmap

bitmap
1.  A bitmap is an uncompressed image format. In a bitmap image, each pixel corresponds to one or more bits in memory. The number of bits per pixel determine the number of available colors within an image. Bitmap images stored in a file are generally seen with a .bmp extension.
