Why is my Canon imageCLASS printer making unusual noises or vibrations after installing a new toner cartridge?

On certain Canon imageCLASS printers, one quick step during toner installation can ensure smooth operation of your printer.

The Issue

After installing a new cartridge, you may notice an unusual noise or vibration coming from your printer.

The Cause

A change in design by the manufacturer may cause a misalignment in the toner cartridge drive gear.

The Resolution

To ensure smooth operation, rotate the gear on the rear side by 1/4 turn (90 degrees) counterclockwise.
