Before wasting money on the wrong Lexmark Fuser Unit, be sure to take this extra step to ensure that you get the right fuser for your machine.

When replacing a Lexmark 40X7743 or 40X8019 Fuser Unit, the general rule of thumb is:

  • In the US, use type 00.
  • Outside the US, use type 08.

This is almost always the case, but to be completely sure, check your existing fuser unit as in the image below. To check the unit, follow these steps:

  1. Open the fuser exit door.
  2. Look at the notched area above the fuser.
  3. Check the sticker there for a 00 or 08 code (see the image below).
  4. Order the appropriate fuser type for your machine.

For the Lexmark Type 08 Fuser Unit (40X8019), the paper type is A4 (which is adopted by International Standards Organization and is not a commonly recognized paper size in the US).
