Brother DCP-9040CN, MFC-9440CN Parts Life Reset Function

The Brother DCP-9040 / MFC-9440 family maintains counters, tracking the life of each consumable item and the number of times that the item has been replaced.

This instruction explains how to reset these counters.

  1. With the machine in the “ready” state, press the 3 and 9 buttons simultaneously.
    Press buttons 3 and 9 simultaneously
     
  2. The reset menu should appear on the LCD screen. Navigate this list using the up and down arrows on the keypad of the machine.
    Note: The list includes 7 supply items:
    • Drum Unit [DR110CL]
    • Transfer Belt Assembly[BU100CL]
    • Paper Feed Kit - MP [LR1920001]
    • Paper Feed Kit - Tray 1 [LR1919001]
    • Paper Feed Kit - Tray 2 [LR1919001]
    • Fuser Unit [LU4103001]
    • Laser Scanner Assembly [LU4373001K]

  3. Select the consumable counter you would like to reset.

  4. When the OK button is pressed, the menu “1. Reset 2. Exit” appears on the LCD. In order to reset the counter, press the “1” button on your keypad. Pressing “2” will exit the prompt.
    Press 1 to reset the supply counter and 2 to exit
     
  5. Pressing the “1” button will reset the counter. The display should provide a confirmation stating that counter has been reset.
    Note: If the “2” button is pressed, the machine will revert back to the select part counter again. If you need to completely exit, press the “Stop/Exit” button at any time.
    Drum Accepted
     
  6. The machine will return to the “ready” state.
    Back to Ready State
